Tuesday July 28, 2009 Hello friends! I've been very busy doing Stone Foxes business as well as recording a new album of my solo music. Yes it's true, Patrick Dyer Wolf and I locked down for a week in my home studio to record a 12 song LP - half my music - half his.
AlsoI've been performing with the Stone Foxes a whole lot! Take a look here:
Monday February 9, 2009 Amigos! It has been a while! My site was broken and I couldn't update it.But alas here I am.
A lot has happened! The Stone Foxes, a blues-rock band I play in, has really gotten good press recently and is starting to pick up steam. We spent January touring the western US and actually made money! We have some big articles and stuff coming out this month in Classic Rock Magazine and R&R Billboard Magazine as well as album reviews like this one:
Everyone must get a Stone Foxes song into their iPod. - The San Francisco Chronicle
Check out our video here:
I am also looking to release my new solo album soon! My extremely talented friend Patrick Dyer Wolf will be assisting me, and I him, to make some form of a split LP or an acoustic band record? We're unsure - but it will be done this summer!
Other good news! I'm getting a new apartment in Hayes Valley with my girlfriend Kari! It's humongous.
And it's in a traditional
victorian house. Can't wait for a change of scenery, weather, and most importantly: roommate! (No offense to my current roomies, you're great.) Write me and I'll give you my new address.
I'll keep you more in the loop from now on!
Saturday June 21, 2008 Heya friends, It's been a while. I've been very busy lately recording an LP with my friends The Stone Foxes. They're an awesome local vintage rock band that touches on old blues. I played bass, guitar, tambourine and sanng on the record! It will be coming out in July - I'll update you soon about that and where to get it.
I've put a new acoustic song on myspace: "Screenplay." I wrote it in New York last summer and never recorded it. This was a live cut from a radio warmup.
Check it here: http://www.myspace.com/avivinocur
I'm going to spend most of this summer writing music and recording. Like the good old days. I'll post stuff!
Here's an old video from Winter 2006 from a Pacific Northwest Tour I did. I got kicked out of Canada and couldn't play my show - so I played this instead.
Tuesday March 18, 2008 Hey! Tomorrow night, I'm playing a huge show with The Stone Foxes at the Red Devil Lounge.
We had a feature on "107.7 The Bone" for 35 minutes and they played 4 songs to promote this big show! They're the biggest rock radio station in San Francisco!
Wed. March 19th, 2008 - Red Devil Lounge - $3

Wednesday, October 31, 2007 So what is new here? Lets see...
First off: November 11th at The Brainwash Cafe I will be playing solo acoustic with Planes Over Bridges (Mikey Pauker) and Sherlock Tones. Come out and check it!
I'm taking over a weekly showcase at the Brainwash Cafe every Tuesday starting December 4th. It is a "Mini-Set Showcase" inspired by Tres Tristes Trastes showcase that I played in Madrid. Each artist gets 4-5 songs, with 6 -8 artists per bill. There will be a kick off show on November 13th with lots of great artists. Check the TOUR page. Contact me if you want to play a feature! AviVinocur@gmail.com
Plenty of shows coming up this November! Many as a member of The Stone Foxes and Pharaohs of Rhythm. Check the TOUR Page.
A couple new poems have been posted on the POETRY page.
I've started working as an intern at SF record label/ recording studio Talking House. Check it out here: Talking House Productions. It's great!
Oh yea and... Happy Halloween! Here's a picture in the spirit of things:
Friday August 24th, 2007 Hello amigos! I am back from my tour, finally and am all moved in to San Francisco again. Let the day-job hunt begin! I posted some pictures from the road: HERE. Some are photography, and on the second page there are some random pictures of Jason and I.
I made a lot of new friends out there ! Here are some bands and singers that you should check out:
The Rum Fellows - A Great Pirate Band from Oklahoma City. Concertina and Washtub bass included. Need I say more? Jeremy Sean - a really creative folksinger from New York City. Russian Red - she's from Madrid and I met her back there, but we hung out in New York with Jeremy and played in Tompkins Square as well as in a dorm hall at Barnard College. What a voice she has! The Morgan Statehouse- not a band but a European Style hotel in Albany New York. Great staff! Ask for room 4B. Evan Dando and the Lemonheads - caught their show free in Albany. It was great. Yes he's still alive. I talked to him! The Undisputed Heavyweights - I've known them for a while, but I spent my birthday at their show and had a blast! They're from New York and so great live! Fenian's Pub - The hottest place to drink beer in Jackson, Mississippi! Antifolk as a whole - It's going on at the Sidewalk Cafe in NYC's East Village. I don't entirely get what qualifies as "antifolk" and what doesn't, but it all sounds pretty darn good.

More News Later,
Monday, January 8th, 2007 Well first off, Happy New Year. 2007 will hopefully be the year that I crash and burn into a drug-filled dungeon of abuse. But before that, I'm moving to Madrid, Spain for 6 months to study spanish and, for lack of a better excuse, live in Europe!! I will use this page as a Journal for my travels across the pond. I will post videos, pictures and journals here. Scroll down for the video!
Also be sure to check my TOUR page throughout the spring for European dates near you, and also because next summer I will be touring the USA again with Jason Reischel of New York City, like I did last year. We will be playing many new venues and cities, and plenty of the same, throughout all of July and August.
I am also posting new tracks on myspace as I record them. Just to give you a taste of what I'm working on. Check that maybe once every two weeks or so for a new track. www.myspace.com/avivinocur
You may also note there is a POETRY page available now! Check the link bits at the top. I'll post poetry up there from time to time, check it out!

If you check out my Tour page you can see that I've got some more great gigs coming up and a very special gig in particular at The Slaughtered Lamb in London, England, as part of the Electroacoustic Club on August 2, 2006, at 8PM UK time. What a mouth full! Anyways, if your in London I hope to see you there but if not you'll have plenty more chances to see perform. Alright, its bedtime for me in London town.
Friday, June 23, 2006 LA here we come again. I'll be finishing my tour with Jason in LA with a gig at Java Man with Sebastian Clark joining the bill and we have a stop on KXLU's Neuz Pollution, playing live at midnight. Check out www.kxlu.com to hear a live feed on the internet!
Thursday, June 22, 2006 Philly's "Jim's Steaks" gets my vote as best cheesesteak. Try it with
"whiz" and mushrooms.
New York is the best city on earth.
I think an old guy died at the bar during my show at the Abbey Lounge in Boston.
Barking Spider's "Martin" is a nice fellow who is a big and honest fan of folk music.
Indianapolis has no music scene but nice sound people.
The Chicago Cubs fucking suck. But their stadium is the best in the
world. No jumbotron distractions.
We met "The Silent Type" in Chicago, a Richmond,VA band and made friends. They're good check them out.
The night we played Omaha, Bright Eyes was doing a show in town. Bad luck.
Kansas City is a great place, and we ran into The Silent Type again
and stayed with some cool guys at the Rush Publications office and
climbed up rather unsafely to their rooftop and got the best view of
the rather impressive KC Skyline.
We visited Mickey Mantles home in Commerce, Oklahoma and asked directions from a guy that happened to own the property, and his family had bought it from the Mick. He gave us copies of the deed that MM signed.
We did a set of open mics in St Louis and Tulsa and it was hotter than hell. Both were cool venues with nice folks!
I hit and slaughtered a big racoon that darted in the road in Salina
Kansas and it really destroyed the front of my car. I need to replace
the whole panel now. I had hope that maybe the racoon survived until i saw both parts of his carcass on opposite sides of the road.
Note: Hotels in Denver book up really fast during Star Wars conventions.
I will embark tomorrow on the long drive from Denver to LA via Las
Vegas. Good bye cool mountain air. Hello 110 degree deserts. I'll
check my coolant.
Thursday, June 15, 2006 Good news everyone, my new EP "New York" is now available online at CD Baby!!! To purchase the new EP online please visit me at www.cdbaby.com/vinocur2. I would love to hear your comments on the EP, so make sure to leave a message on CD Baby after you get the new CD! Oh, and by the way, the tour is going great! Thanks to everyone who has been coming out to the shows and supporting Jason and myself!
Thursday, June 8, 2006 The road with Jason Reischel is great. We get along well and we are
playing lots and lots of shows to great crowds.
New Orleans needs help.
Little Rock kids know how to party (Cause it's all there is to do)!
Asheville, NC is gorgeous.
Don't try driving in Washington DC unless you're on sedatives so you don't get overwhelmed.
Virginia is one big speeding trap.
I thought I knew what a shitty hotel room was until I was introduced
to the "Scottish Inn" in Bessemer, Alabama.
Nashville would be a great place to be if you're already successful in
music, but trying to come up in their scene is close to impossible.
Everyone is a musician so you're just one in a million.
Fenians Pub is the only friendly bar in Jackson, Mississippi.
NPR is great listening while driving.
